Top Ten Signs Your Son May Be Ready for Potty Training... October 03, 2008

(At least these are the top 10 signs at the Parker house right now.)
10.  Your son likes to take off all his clothes and his diaper and run around buck naked.
9.  Your son can tell you that he needs his diaper changed.
8.  He tries to change his own poopy diapers.
7.  He disappears into a corner to do his "business".
6.  The smell...you know what I'm talking about!
5.  He's fascinated by the toilet and never wants to get off of it.
4.  He's also fascinated by "captain winkey".
3.  He's been going on the toilet "for fun" for an entire year now.
2.  Yesterday when you were about to buckle him up in the car to drive home from lunch, and you knew he'd just had a lot of lemonade to drink for lunch and that his diaper was never going to hold it all, you told him to hurry up and go pee in his diaper so you could change him.  Then he looked at you with a really funny face and did what you asked him to do!
1.  You just discovered to your horror and dispare that he squeezed out an entire tube of diaper cream lotion during his "nap time" and then he had a grand time smearing it all over himself, the walls, his picture frames, the door, and worst of all...the carpet.  Ugh.

This probably belongs in my private journal, but I'm too tired today to actually write it out by hand.  It's so much easier to type.  So, this is going to be long, and not too cleverly written, but there are things I wanted to think about and say, and some things that I wanted to put in here, so rather than write it twice it's just all going in here.  If you're not interested, then skip it! A Sick Mommie's Two Best Friends... January 18, 2008

Fruit snacks and television!  So, my prediction was right.  I got sick.  Noah had it for a week starting the day before his birthday, then Chris got, now it's my turn.  It hasn't been the end of the world, and at least it wasn't during Christmas (although I'm pretty sure a Christmas party started the whole thing...)  I guess you can't avoid being sick forever and a cold is just a cold.  Either I'm a whimp, or being sick and being a parent at the same time is hard.  Noah is so cooped up!  He's been such a trooper.  As long as I keep the toys out, the movies on, and the snacks coming, he's pretty alright.  We're going to be so happy when this is all over though!  We're going everywhere and going to have lots of fun.  That's what I keep telling myself.  Chris is getting ready to start his "busy" season at work on Monday.  This is the time of year we gear up for all year long.  He's going to be working a lot of late nights and br

A Bang-em Up Weekend... July 04, 2008

Happy 4th of July!  In true Parker style we have been celebrating and doing fun things all weekend long, which for us started Thursday afternoon when Chris got off work early.  3rd of July: Thursday afternoon we took Noah to go see the new Disney/Pixar movie Wall-e.  It seemed like the perfect way to start the weekend.  We loaded up, literally.  I'm an honest person, but I just can't help myself when it comes to smuggling treats into the movie theater in my purse.  Call me cheap, or that it's fun to feel sneaky...I don't know.  So, we got to the theater in time to have a bit of time to get settled before the previews started.  I could tell Noah felt like such a big boy because we let him hold his own ticket, give it to the ticket taker guy, carry his own booster seat, and choose where we sat.  It was really fun to watch him.  He loved the previews.  He sat so still in his little chair with his big, bright eyes watching every trailer.  After a few, he asked for the
