At the zoo... June 14, 2007

Chris took a long weekend away from work, and on Monday we spent the afternoon at the zoo.  Noah noticed the animals way more than we thought he was going to, and we had a fun trip.  His favorite animals were the birds  (especially the ducks, which he can say now), the monkeys, and a shrew.  He basically liked all the small animals that ran around a  lot.  He didn't notice the ones that didn't move.  We loved our first trip to the zoo together as a family.  Last year, I took Noah to the zoo with his birthfamily, but  this was his first time with both Mommy and Daddy.

Chicago (Part Two)... March 30, 2008

The second day we were there Chris spent the whole morning and until 3:00 in interviews for the White House Fellowship.  He said they went pretty well and that he felt good about them.  I was just praying for him that his personality would come across because really, who could not love him?  I spent the morning having an expensive taxi fiasco and ending up at a really cool natural history museum.  (Let's just say, cabbis don't really care about you.  They just care that you can pay them - and no, they don't want to take the time to have you pay by credit card.)  But let's just focus on the cool museum part. Girls don't like bugs... May 27, 2007

We went on a family walk last night at a new park by Chris' parents house.  It's out by the lake, and is built on some really marshy land, so there were lots of bugs.  I spent most of the walk with my mouth closed replying to Chris' chatter with comments like, "Mmmhmmm" so as not to accidentally swallow a bug.  I thought I was being pretty covert about it until Chris said with a smirk, "You're keeping your mouth closed so that you won't swallow a bug, aren't you?"  Yep.  I was.  Sometimes it stinks to have someone know you so well.  I swear I can't hide the vaguest emotion from him.  You know how I never had any brothers and how when I got married my eyes were suddenly opened to the way the other half of the world lives?  Well, I'm still discovering things that surprise me.  Now that I'm outnumbered in my own home, something that had never happened in my 29 years of life, those differences are becoming even more apparent.  Last n...
