Happy Halloween! November 01, 2008

We've pretty much been celebrating Halloween for weeks and weeks now because Noah has loved it so much.  He loves to find all the creepy decorations every time we go to the grocery store, begs to go down the "scary aisle", and wants to push the buttons on all the interactive Halloween decorations over and over whenever we see them.  We got his pirate costume in the mail about a month ago, which he has loved wearing every chance he could.  So, when the actual week of Halloween came for real, we were all set!

For FHE we carved a pumpkin while we all rocked out to scary Halloween music.  When we pulled the top off the pumpkin and showed him what was inside, he was totally grossed out and didn't want to touch the slimy pumpkin guts at all.  Daddy and Noah carved the face in it once it was all hollowed out, and then Noah proudly put the pumpkin on our front porch, along with the tiny one he and Daddy colored.  That tiny one is actually my favorite because it has so many of Noah's cute little scribbles on it.
On Wednesday I took Noah to our ward's playgroup Halloween party.  It was pretty much a crazy morning that I can chalk up to potty training.  That morning I helped Noah on and off the toilet seriously at least 30 times.  We were 1/2 hour late for our party, and it's amazing we made it there at all!  But we did, and Noah even got to go trick-or-treating there and see his ward friends.
Thursday I took Noah to get his pictures taken at Target.  We take so many pictures of him, but haven't gotten his portaits done in a long time, so it was nice to do.  They turned out super cute.  He wore a fall looking outfit and then had some done in his costume.
Friday, Halloween, was a busy, busy, fun day.  We started the day by visiting Grandma Buckholts in her school classroom.  We walked in and Noah was so overwhelmed by all the big kids dressed up in their costumes and noisily playing their games.  (They had earned a party for Halloween.)  My mom is so amazing to me.  Like I said, the kids were all dressed up, but since she teaches English, they weren't in just whatever, they were all characters in a book.  There were Harry Potter characters, Peter Rabbit, Alice in Wonderland, Pippi Longstocking, and a bunch of others.  Since they are also studying mythology, my mom was dressed up as the supreme goddess of the universe.  When there was 5 min left in my mom's class she rang this little chime thing and, without really having to say anything much to them, the kids moved all their desks back into place, cleaned up all their games the right way and picked up all their treats and garbage.  I was totally amazed...  She's an amazing teacher.  (She teaches 6th & 7th grade students in middle school.)  During the 5 min. break in between classes a few students made their way in to her classroom to say hi, because they must have not had her that day, and to show her their costumes.  It's really obvious how much they love her and what a fantastic teacher she is.  I can second their vote!  She's such a good teacher that one of the local news channels came to tape her and her classroom and all the kids that were dressed up as literary characters for the nightly news.
Then we went to Daddy's work to go trick-or-treating there.  I swear Chris works for the nicest people.  Everyone gave Noah candy and told him what a cute pirate he was.  One of the State Senators was there and made a special trip back to his office in the Capitol to bring Noah back some candy because he thought Noah was so cute.
Then we went home.  Noah was supposed to fall asleep in the car just in time for me to move him to his bed for a nap when we got home, but we were both too hyper.  When we got home we had fun together decorating my Annual Halloween Cake.  (For some reason, and I think it might be the fun sprinkles I have for Halloween, that there is usually candy corn - although this year there wasn't, Halloween always makes me in the mood to make a chocolate bundt cake.  This year was no different.)  The more sprinkles on the cake, the better.  This year we had 4 different kinds on it.
Then Heidi, Glen, Sam, Jami, Krista, Jonathan, and Gwen came over for a Halloween pizza party. Sam was a beautiful princess, Jami a the cutest ladybug I've ever seen, Gwen was a unicorn who loved, loved, loved her tail, and Krista and Jonathan were Mario and Luigi from Mario Bros. (Very creative Krista and Jonathan. I seriously love how much Jonathan gets into holidays. He really made me laugh telling me about all the costumes he thought of for this year.)

After they left, we did some more trick-or-treating with Noah.  Then we went to G & G Parker's to hang out and Chelsea, Seth, Carlos, and Luke were there too.  It was so fun to talk to them and see them!  The perfect way to end the day.
Hope you had a fun Halloween too!
