An Incredible Mother's Day... May 13, 2008
It was quite an eventfull weekend. It started Friday night at about 6pm when Linda called me and said that her water had just broken and she and Dave were headed to the hospital! Earlier that day she had had her Dr.s appointment and they had said everything looked good but she hadn't progressed at all in a week and they scheduled a date to induce labor in a week. I was so surprised. It took a minute to sink in that I was going to have a new nephew that night. It was an incredibly special night for me because Linda and Dave had invited me to be there for the birth to take pictures.
We put Noah to bed, I tried to take a little nap (tried being the keyword), and then right as I was falling asleep Dave called and said it was time to go. I hurried off to the hospital and while I drove I listened to my favorite "baby" CD, the Celine Dion Miracle cd.
I got there, said hi to Dave's parents, took some pictures, my mom came and we waited a little longer. Before we knew it it was time for Andrew to come into the world. Everything went so smoothly, no complications at all. To say it was miraculous seems too basic of a way to describe it. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life to be there for that. To see someone that I know I'm going to love so much be born. To see such a beautiful miracle happening, to see a little human being, a brand new, pure spirit come from one world to the next...To see the happiness on my sisters's face and Dave was as happy as I've ever seen him. He was elated. It was truly special. Andrew was born at 12:18 am on Saturday, May 10th. He was 19 inches long and weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces.
The next day, after only 5 hours of sleep, I woke up and we got ready for another exciting day - Birth Mother's Day. Every year the Saturday before Mother's Day we celebrate Noah's birthmom Heather. This year we met her and her really nice boyfriend Mike at her Great-Grandma Nana's house. It was extra great because we also got to meet her Grandma Genia for the first time. Noah loved playing with Heather and it was fun for all of us to see each other again.
Chris and Noah did such a good job making this weekend special for me. I got totally spoiled with gifts and attention. They gave me a new MP3 player, new exercise clothes, a new water bottle, a really cool picture collage card, speakers for our computer, and a back up hard drive for our computer. Chris also made me german pancakes for breakfast on Sunday, Noah gave me lots of snuggles, was super good at church, and then my whole family (well all of them that could make it) came for dinner that night. It was all really nice. I sure love my family, and I'm so grateful for my little Noah. I love being his mother. This day of the year in particular I'm also especially grateful for Heather and the sacrifice she made to give her son the life she wanted him to have. Thank you Heather. We love you!
