Visit with Heather... October 27, 2007

We had a fun visit with Noah's birthmom Heather the other day.  We kidnapped Chris from work and all went to lunch at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  Then Chris left to go back to work and Noah, Heather, and I spent the rest of the afternoon hanging around temple square.  We chased Noah as he ran around, kept him from trying to swim in the water fountains, and played with him in the children's exhibit at the church history museum.  It was a fun day.  When we get together I always love to see how much Noah looks like Heather.  It is so interesting to watch Heather talk and see how some of the expressions on her face are so similar to the ones I see on Noah every day.  They are so cute together.

This probably belongs in my private journal, but I'm too tired today to actually write it out by hand.  It's so much easier to type.  So, this is going to be long, and not too cleverly written, but there are things I wanted to think about and say, and some things that I wanted to put in here, so rather than write it twice it's just all going in here.  If you're not interested, then skip it! I am so emotionally full but also exhausted.  I just got back from the funeral of my friend, across the street neighbor, and for 2+ years visiting teaching sister Kathleen.  I have just cried and cried about her passing and as I've done so I've realized it's been for many reasons.  First of all, she was just a sweet lady and I will miss her.  In the last ward I was in I was assigned as VTing companions with an older lady and all of the ladies that we visited were older too.  I can't even tell you how much I learned from them and how much knowing them has enriched m

A Sick Mommie's Two Best Friends... January 18, 2008

Fruit snacks and television!  So, my prediction was right.  I got sick.  Noah had it for a week starting the day before his birthday, then Chris got, now it's my turn.  It hasn't been the end of the world, and at least it wasn't during Christmas (although I'm pretty sure a Christmas party started the whole thing...)  I guess you can't avoid being sick forever and a cold is just a cold.  Either I'm a whimp, or being sick and being a parent at the same time is hard.  Noah is so cooped up!  He's been such a trooper.  As long as I keep the toys out, the movies on, and the snacks coming, he's pretty alright.  We're going to be so happy when this is all over though!  We're going everywhere and going to have lots of fun.  That's what I keep telling myself.  Chris is getting ready to start his "busy" season at work on Monday.  This is the time of year we gear up for all year long.  He's going to be working a lot of late nights and br

A Bang-em Up Weekend... July 04, 2008

Happy 4th of July!  In true Parker style we have been celebrating and doing fun things all weekend long, which for us started Thursday afternoon when Chris got off work early.  3rd of July: Thursday afternoon we took Noah to go see the new Disney/Pixar movie Wall-e.  It seemed like the perfect way to start the weekend.  We loaded up, literally.  I'm an honest person, but I just can't help myself when it comes to smuggling treats into the movie theater in my purse.  Call me cheap, or that it's fun to feel sneaky...I don't know.  So, we got to the theater in time to have a bit of time to get settled before the previews started.  I could tell Noah felt like such a big boy because we let him hold his own ticket, give it to the ticket taker guy, carry his own booster seat, and choose where we sat.  It was really fun to watch him.  He loved the previews.  He sat so still in his little chair with his big, bright eyes watching every trailer.  After a few, he asked for the
