As Pooh Would Say... December 29, 2007
"Oh, bother!" My little Nobo is sick. And it's his birthday tomorrow. And we had a fun party planned. I could tell when he woke up that he seemed a bit off, and by 3:00 today he was just plain miserable. I'm sure it's just a cold virus, but he's got a fever and his breathing sounds terrible, so party cancelled. The good news is that Chris, Noah, and I are still going to make tomorrow a fun day. I'm going to make a little cake, we have ice cream and special candles Noah picked out and was excited about. We will probably even let him open a present or two. AND we will still have a party for him with his family when we're all better (Chris thinks he's getting it too, and that means the odds against me aren't that great...). Oh well; just the time of the year I guess. Another thing that is good about this is that when we do have his party Grandma and Aunt Linda will be home from Italy to be able to go to it.
We've had a fun day celebrating his birthday with Heather, his birth mom. We wanted to do something special with her so we decided to go shopping for clothes for him and then go to McDonald's. The mall was lots of fun with Heather and Noah. He loved walking down the halls like a big boy and held Heather's hand. His favorite was that we found a little down vest that is red and has a firefighter patch on it (he LOVES firefighter stuff now thanks to the fire engine at the Treehouse Museum and it's bell that goes "Ding Ding!" - Just ask Noah, he'll tell you all about the bell.) When Noah saw the vest he immedately declared, "Mine!" and we had to buy it. He wouldn't take it off, even though it was making him hot. It's his new favorite. We found some other cute clothes to buy him, and it was really fun to have Heather pick them out. Then we went to McDonald's where Noah disappeared into their playland right away, which was the whole reason we went there. He loved it, and we had so much fun watching him play. Heather and I snuck up into the hamster tube things with Noah and giggled because we were so big and it was so small in there. It was so fun to watch Noah. He got kindof lost in there once and surprised us all when he popped out at the bottom of the slide having made it all the way through the maze. What a big boy.
None of us can believe he will be two tomorrow. It is so sweet to be able to share the experience of loving Noah with Heather. She is so wonderful and having her in our life has really added an incredible richness. What amazing, beautiful, sacred experiences we've shared with each other...I'm so thankful for her.
As we were dropping her off she gave Noah his Christmas present, which he loved because it was a Pooh bear and he's obsessed with Pooh lately. He was feeling pretty sick and tired by this point, but it was really cute that he insisted on holding it while he fell asleep.
