She's Here!!! September 05, 2007

The past few days have been so special for me and my family.  My newest little niece, Jami, was born yesterday.  I was so relieved when I got the phone call from my mom just minutes after she was born that she was here, that my sister was ok, and that everything went well.  When I saw her for the first time I was overwhelmed with her complete innocence, and with the beauty of a newborn child.  I expected meeting her for the first time to be sweet, but I was stunned by the emotion I felt.  She's a miracle.  Babies are miracles; every one of them.  It was amazing to look at her and to think that she had been in heaven only a few hours before.  What must that be like to be standing on the precipice of time?  I wish I could remember...
All of those thoughts were running across my mind as I held her for the first time and as I watched my sister hold her new daughter.  It's so wonderful to think that she belongs to our family.  I'm so grateful to be her Aunt.  I feel that way about all of my nieces and nephews.  I never knew I could love them each so much. 
I took these sweet pictures of Heidi and Glen cherishing their newborn baby on the day that she was born.  I think they turned out pretty well for just being pictures taken in a hospital.  I have a feeling she's going to get her picture taken a lot over the next few months!

Chris Turns 33 at the Grand Tetons... August 23, 2007

We're having an extra special week because Chris is turning 33!  We've been celebrating all week long with Chris taking the whole week off, and by taking a trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.  We had so many precious times on our little mini-vacation.  We spent some really good time together as a family.  Here's a little bit about what happened: Hee hee, Chris here, Laura ran off to take a shower, so I'm sneaking in to write some. We headed off Monday morning about an hour or so after we had planned because we have a one-year-old.  We decided to head the back way by Bear Lake, which was nice.  We've both been there before, but it's been awhile.  We stopped in Montpelier, Idaho for some lunch.  After passing by a pizza place, we decided to stop at Dan's Delicious Drive-Inn because I was craving a burger.  Big mistake!  We had a couple of groups in front of us, nothing out of the ordinary.  But we waited an hour before we e...

My Little Sickie... July 12, 2008

My poor little Noah, you've been so sick the past two days.  It makes me so grateful for doctors and medicine.  We think you've had pneumonia or croup.  It's such a strange time of year for you to get sick like this and it came on so suddenly, that it really took me by surprise.  You've only been this sick one other time in your life, and maybe not even then.  You've been running a fever, you have a cough that sounds like a dog, and every time you cough, you cry because it hurts so bad.  All you want to do is have me hold you...We've even been sleeping together on the floor of your room at night.  It's been a long couple of days and I'm so hoping you feel all better soon. 3 cute stories from this: We took you to the Dr. and they did an x-ray of your chest.  It was basically impossible for you to hold still like they needed to, so we ended up having to take them twice.  They gave us the extra one to take home as a souvenir, so we have a l...

Helllloooo Summer... May 27, 2008

This past weekend was Memorial Day weekend.  In my mind, this is the weekend that Summertime officially starts.  This is the last week of school for lots of kids, the outside pool at our gym opens, people brush up on all their barbequeing recipes...Summer is here.  At least supposedly it is.  It rained all weekend long.  Even with the rain we managed to have a bunch of good times together; long weekends are so nice. Saturday, for once, we worked in our yard all day long.  For a few years now we've been the house in the neighborhood known by having only ONE tree and no bushes or flowers to keep it company.  We named our tree "Max".  We figured if it had to be a lonely tree, it might as well have a name.  Well, Max has lots of "friends" now and more to come.  Chris, Noah, and I literally spent all day long planting 8 trees and we still have 11 bushes to plant.  We planned to finish up on Monday, but it was too rainy....
