I Love(d) Young Women's... September 26, 2007

So...it's official, or will be after this Sunday.  I'm no longer YW President.  Tonight was the last activity with my girls.  I'm going to miss them so much.  Once again I'm finding that my Patriarchal Blessing is being fulfilled in my life.  My blessing talks a lot about how I will serve with the youth and, that by serving them, it will help me to enjoy my purpose in life.  They have definitely helped me enjoy my life over the past three years, and I have grown so much.  Over the past three years I've come home from almost every activity happier than when I left and feeling really good.  Each of my young women has been so unique, so amazing in their own beautiful way.  They have each inspired me and taught me.  It's been a privilege to be a part of their lives.  I'm so glad that Heavenly Father entrusted them to me in this small way for even this short time.  So Emily, if you are reading this...I've loved being in YW's with you and I love(d) you.

This probably belongs in my private journal, but I'm too tired today to actually write it out by hand.  It's so much easier to type.  So, this is going to be long, and not too cleverly written, but there are things I wanted to think about and say, and some things that I wanted to put in here, so rather than write it twice it's just all going in here.  If you're not interested, then skip it! A Sick Mommie's Two Best Friends... January 18, 2008

Fruit snacks and television!  So, my prediction was right.  I got sick.  Noah had it for a week starting the day before his birthday, then Chris got, now it's my turn.  It hasn't been the end of the world, and at least it wasn't during Christmas (although I'm pretty sure a Christmas party started the whole thing...)  I guess you can't avoid being sick forever and a cold is just a cold.  Either I'm a whimp, or being sick and being a parent at the same time is hard.  Noah is so cooped up!  He's been such a trooper.  As long as I keep the toys out, the movies on, and the snacks coming, he's pretty alright.  We're going to be so happy when this is all over though!  We're going everywhere and going to have lots of fun.  That's what I keep telling myself.  Chris is getting ready to start his "busy" season at work on Monday.  This is the time of year we gear up for all year long.  He's going to be working a lot of late nights and br

A Bang-em Up Weekend... July 04, 2008

Happy 4th of July!  In true Parker style we have been celebrating and doing fun things all weekend long, which for us started Thursday afternoon when Chris got off work early.  3rd of July: Thursday afternoon we took Noah to go see the new Disney/Pixar movie Wall-e.  It seemed like the perfect way to start the weekend.  We loaded up, literally.  I'm an honest person, but I just can't help myself when it comes to smuggling treats into the movie theater in my purse.  Call me cheap, or that it's fun to feel sneaky...I don't know.  So, we got to the theater in time to have a bit of time to get settled before the previews started.  I could tell Noah felt like such a big boy because we let him hold his own ticket, give it to the ticket taker guy, carry his own booster seat, and choose where we sat.  It was really fun to watch him.  He loved the previews.  He sat so still in his little chair with his big, bright eyes watching every trailer.  After a few, he asked for the
