Dinosaurs...Arrrrrhhhh! July 04, 2008

So I can check another thing off my "Summer-O-Fun" list: Go to a Dinosaur Museum.
Check!
Last Saturday we packed Noah up and headed to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  One of the best things every about Noah is that he is always so excited to do whatever fun thing we are up to.  He is so much fun to be around.  I love him so much and he makes life such a joy.  He was really excited to see the dinosaurs, maybe a bit apprehensive too.
We got there right when it opened, so even though it was a Saturday, it wasn't a bit crowded.  We started off watching a 3D movie on their IMAX screen called "Monsters of the Deep".  Pretty much it was all about big, scary swimming dinosaurs and how they fought and ate things.  Noah was fascinated and freaked out at the same time.  He sat on our laps the whole time.  He was my big, brave boy for sitting through that!  He was pretty much fine except for when the big scary shark-like ones looked like they were swimming right towards us with their mouths open to gobble us up.  Then he was glad Mommy was right there.  Afterwards he talked a lot about how dinosaurs like to eat fish.  The funnest part for me was seeing how cute Noah looked in his 3D glasses.  Even though he wore the ones for kids, they looked so big on him.  He did such a good job wearing them the whole time.  I wouldn't have predicted that.
We wandered around the exhibits, well Noah and I stomped around.  We were having so much fun pretending we were dinosaurs.  That was Noah's idea.  (Like I said, he is so fun to be around.)  We stomped and growled and checked everything out.  Noah also liked the fact that he had a dinosaur stamp on his hand, you know the kind the ticket taker gives you when you enter to prove you paid?  That was super fun for Noah and he got upset when it washed off later.  We ate lunch in their cafe and then Noah got to pick out a toy from the gift shop.  He picked out a green T-Rex head on a stick that you can make open and close it's mouth.  It's been a favorite ever since.  It's been "eating" a lot of things around our house and has even been swimming with Noah in our backyard.
My favorite part of the exhibit was the one on Wooly Mammoths.  They have always been so interesting to me, and they had actual Wooly Mammoth hair there.  Wow.  They also had the skeleton from a baby Wooly Mammoth.  It was so cute and tiny.  It's pretty incredible to think that animals like that used to be alive.  I love taking Noah to fun places like that because I feel like he's learning so much and we're having such a great time doing it.  It's so great to be a family!
