Happiness is... March 22, 2008

Happiness (from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown)
Happiness is two kinds of ice cream...
Knowing a secret...
Climbing a tree.
Happiness is five dif'rent crayons...
Catching a firefly...
Setting him free.
Happiness is having a sister
Sharing a sandwich
Getting along-
Happiness is singing together when day is through.
And happiness is those who sing with you.
Happiness is morning and evening,
Daytime and nighttime, too,
For happiness is anyone and anything at all
That's loved by you.
When I was little this Charlie Brown special was one of my favorite movies to watch, and I loved this song.  I have really sweet, peaceful memories of my mom playing the piano and us all singing along; lots of times she played this song for us to sing.  I love the lyrics.  I love the simple things in life.
Last night in the middle of the night Noah was making some noise so I went in to see what was going on.  He was lying there partly asleep but he said something to me then that made my little heart skip a beat; something I've never heard him say before: "I happy".  "I'm so glad." I told him.  I asked him if he was having happy dreams and he went on to tell that he was and that he was thinking about "choo-choos".
We had a really happy day yesterday and we started a tradition too.  Every year the Friday before Easter my mom is going to have the day off from teaching school and we (my sisters and all the grandkids) are going to spend the day doing something fun together.  Yesterday we spent the day at the zoo.  When we all first got there and started our way over to go on a train ride, hence Noah's "choo-choo" comment last night, my mom told me she felt so happy to be together with all of us that she wanted to cry.  It was that kind of a day.  I loved it.  Here are some pictures:
(Happiness is riding the "choo-choo" at the zoo with your special buddy.  Mason really looked after Noah at the zoo.  He held his hand and kept him out of trouble.  They both love trains, so of course they had to sit next to each other on the "choo-choo".)
(Happiness is a Grandma who loves you.)
(Happiness is when your mommy buys you a tiger that can pretend to bite "Grammie".  He's been playing with it non-stop ever since and even had to take a bath with it last night!)
(Happiness is Gwen's contagious smile and seeing her want to hug all the animals at the zoo, especailly the cougar.)
(Happiness is a bag full of cookies from Grandma and pretending you're a tiger!)
