Splish Splash... May 18, 2008

There's a reason our kitchen is a disaster area, our laundry baskets are full, and our yard is still the plainest looking one on the block: it's just so much more fun to do other things on Saturday!  Yesterday was a busy, long day full of lots of fun things.
Yesterday morning was the first 5k race of the summer for Chris, the Ogden Marathon 5k.  He woke Noah and I up 5 minutes before we had to leave (it felt like the sun was still rising), I slapped on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, scooped Noah up in his pjs, and we got in the car to go.  We dropped Chris off at the starting point for the race and Noah and I hurried down to the finish line.  When we got there I gave Noah some goldfish, a fruit roll up, and a granola bar for breakfast and we watched all the race officials get set for the  runners to make it to the finish line.  It's so inspirational and fun for me to go to races.  I love it!  The announcer was playing loud music and talking about what times they expected people to get and what would be happening throughout the day.  I had fun dancing with Noah and explaining to him that Daddy would be coming by us in a few minutes and we were going to clap and cheer for him.  We had such a good time.  Noah loved it!  When the racers started coming by us he was transfixed and every now and then he'd clap and say, "Yay!".  Before we knew it Daddy was running as fast as he could by us and we got to cheer and wave him on.  Chris got a personal record for the 5k at 18 minutes 59 seconds, which is faster than his time in high school when he was on the track team.  I think he's pretty amazing.  He came in first for his age group for the second year in a row.

After the race we went home, had some more breakfast, cleaned up and then went shopping for a swimming pool for Noah.  Noah's been telling us that he wanted to get a swimming pool "with a slide and stairs" for a few days now.  He came up with that on his own, isn't that funny?  So that's exactly what he got.  Later on in the day when we filled it up and went swimming Noah was in seventh heaven.  He giggled and squealed for at least 5 minutes straight.  Chris went to pick up a pizza and we spent the rest of the afternoon having a "pizza pool party".  It was great!  I have a feeling Noah will be wanting to go swimming almost every day this summer.  I was nice and filled the pool up with warm water like my dad did for me when I was little.
It was such a fun day!
